![]() ![]() Where building a PC beats the Mac Mini is in it's parts. Why to build your own PC: The two best things about building PCs is the fact that you get to pick and choose what sorts of parts you want and that it's just really satisfying and rewarding to build it yourself. ![]() Lastly, for a prebuilt, this sounds pretty good. Plus, it'd be cheaper to buy a base model Mac Mini than make your own (the Mac mini is like $1000 CAD). ![]() If you don't plan to game, or feel the need to upgrade the computer, then the Mac Mini is a pretty good option. It's form factor is great, it's silent, but most importantly it gets the job done. And for an All-in-one PC, being given the option to customize the parts is great (although the upgrades are way too expensive). Why to go with the M1 Mac mini: Again, the CPU is great, and if you're looking for a PC for Adobe softwares, then a good CPU is a must. Here's what I'm not fond of though: It's way too expensive, it costs too much to upgrade the base model, and there's not enough RAM. I'm going to start by what I think is good about the M1 Mac Mini, it's got a great CPU, it uses an SSD, it has a small form factor, and it's quiet. If your partner isn't planning on gaming on their PC and isn't planning on doing 3D work, then you could cheap out on your graphics card. One final piece of advice I'd like to leave you with is that you could also go for a cheaper GPU. I'd say aim at least 3200 MHz, and try to get something with a low cas latency. I agree with this too, as on your current shopping list your RAM is pretty slow. Something like a 3600x is what I use, and it works perfectly for what I do (I do digital art, photo editing, video editing, and live streaming), but something else you could do if you really want splurge then you could get a 3650x which is faster than the 3600x, but it doesn't come with a cooler (which is fine since you're buying an after market cooler).Īs mentioned before, you could also change your RAM. I'd say to go for a 3000 series processor instead of a 2000. ![]() One thing to change would be the CPU, as the processor will be doing most of the work when it comes to programs like photoshop, premiere, etc. If your partner is going to be doing digital art, then what you've got is OK, but it can be improved upon. My advice would be to upgrade your RAM and CPU as Adobe software will be using those components the most.
